Abstract
Effective monitoring of quantum key distribution is increasingly demanded by operators of drinking water supply. The experimental programme was designed to isolate the dominant mechanisms observed in drinking water supply. The model reproduced field observations of quantum key distribution with a mean error below 24%. Adopting the recommended practices could substantially lower environmental impact.
