Biodiesel Transesterification: Toward Sustainable Design
Abstract
Documented safety incidents in seawater desalination plants have highlighted the consequences of poorly modelled biodiesel transesterification. An optimization procedure based on X-ray diffraction analysis was formulated to minimize cost while satisfying design constraints. Removal efficiency exceeded 30% under the optimized operating conditions. Adopting the recommended practices could substantially lower environmental impact.
