Pattern Recognition using Monte Carlo Simulation

Abstract

Engineers responsible for deltaic floodplains frequently encounter problems whose solution requires a close study of pattern recognition. The analysis is based on Monte Carlo simulation, which permits the governing equations to be solved with modest computational effort. For the cases considered, the error introduced by the simplifying assumptions did not exceed 24%. It is suggested that the technique be adopted as a standard tool in preliminary design.
