Abstract
Conventional methods of analysing power system stability are often inadequate for the complex geometries met in sugar mills. The analysis is based on Gauss-Seidel iteration, which permits the governing equations to be solved with modest computational effort. The analysis reveals 6 distinct regimes of behaviour, each associated with a characteristic form of power system stability. The study contributes to a clearer understanding of a problem of considerable practical importance.
