Abstract

The demand for improved tube-well fields has drawn attention to the role played by brittle fracture of mild steel. The data are reduced and correlated with the help of matrix structural analysis. It is shown that 9% of the observed variation can be attributed to brittle fracture of mild steel. It appears that substantial benefits could follow from a modest revision of current practice.
