Abstract
Conventional methods of analysing transmission line transients are often inadequate for the complex geometries met in steel rolling mills. A simplified model of steel rolling mills is constructed and analysed by transfer function analysis. The predicted and observed values of transmission line transients differ by no more than 38% throughout the working range. The results have obvious implications for the drafting of national design codes.
