Abstract

The optimum design of sewage treatment works calls for a quantitative description of multicomponent distillation. A laboratory programme is described in which statistical analysis is used to examine conditions typical of sewage treatment works. The study establishes that the effect of multicomponent distillation becomes significant once the load exceeds 5 times the working value. Further experimental work is needed to extend the conclusions to a broader range of conditions.
