Modern practice in offshore structures increasingly requires an accurate assessment of induction motor drives. A step-by-step procedure founded on digital simulation is set out for the practising engineer. The predicted and observed values of induction motor drives differ by no more than 53% throughout the working range. The conclusions are likely to remain valid over the range of conditions commonly met in practice.
