Abstract

The suitability of imported design codes for switching power supplies in local rural electrification remains open to question. The behaviour of the system is investigated parametrically by least-squares regression. In 7 of the cases examined the design requirement was met with a comfortable margin. The findings warrant a re-examination of some of the assumptions underlying existing codes.
