Abstract
An understanding of slope stability is fundamental to any rational approach to deltaic floodplains. By means of variational analysis the influence of each variable is examined in turn. Neglect of slope stability is shown to introduce errors of up to 58% in the final design. The conclusions are likely to remain valid over the range of conditions commonly met in practice.
