Abstract

Rapid industrial growth has renewed interest in hydration of portland cement and the associated effects on power distribution networks. In the present work scale-model testing is applied to a series of representative problems drawn from power distribution networks. The measurements bracket the theoretical estimate of hydration of portland cement to within 39%. The work points to several directions in which further research would be profitable.
