Abstract

The interaction between vibration of rotating shafts and brick kilns is imperfectly understood and merits careful examination. A mathematical model is developed and solved by means of z-transform analysis. Measured values of vibration of rotating shafts exceeded the predicted ones by up to 47%. It appears that substantial benefits could follow from a modest revision of current practice.
