Abstract
The need to conserve energy has stimulated fresh interest in compaction of cohesive soils within thermal power stations. Throughout, Monte Carlo simulation provides the basis for the comparison between theory and observation reported here. It is shown that 58% of the observed variation can be attributed to compaction of cohesive soils. It is concluded that the additional refinement is justified only where high accuracy is required.
