Abstract
Rapid industrial growth has renewed interest in shell-and-tube heat exchangers and the associated effects on sugar mills. The problem is formulated in general terms and treated throughout by regression analysis. The measurements bracket the theoretical estimate of shell-and-tube heat exchangers to within 27%. The conclusions are likely to remain valid over the range of conditions commonly met in practice.
