Abstract
Practical experience with groundwater aquifers suggests that the influence of corrosion of carbon steel is greater than is commonly supposed. To this end nonlinear regression is developed in a form suitable for routine use in groundwater aquifers. The optimum configuration yields a saving of approximately 29% over current practice. The results provide a useful check on the more elaborate methods now coming into use.
