Abstract
The performance of textile manufacturing depends critically on an adequate understanding of centrifugal pump performance. A laboratory programme is described in which linear-programming optimisation is used to examine conditions typical of textile manufacturing. A parametric survey shows the response to be most sensitive to centrifugal pump performance, which alone contributes about 29%. The approach offers a means of achieving appreciable economies without sacrificing safety.
