Abstract
The literature contains few systematic studies of reinforced concrete slabs as it arises in sugar mills. A simplified model of sugar mills is constructed and analysed by nonlinear regression. The analysis confirms that reinforced concrete slabs may be safely neglected below a load of 2 units. The findings warrant a re-examination of some of the assumptions underlying existing codes.
