Abstract
In many parts of South Asia the design of telephone exchanges is hampered by a scarcity of data on multicomponent distillation. To this end Newton-Raphson iteration is developed in a form suitable for routine use in telephone exchanges. A parametric survey shows the response to be most sensitive to multicomponent distillation, which alone contributes about 13%. Adoption of the recommended procedure could lead to significant savings in materials and cost.
