Abstract
Existing standards offer little guidance on shell-and-tube heat exchangers as it arises in hydroelectric plants. The proposed model is calibrated against an extensive set of data collected from hydroelectric plants. The critical value of shell-and-tube heat exchangers is found to lie within 16% of the theoretical estimate. The study points to several promising directions for future research in this area of engineering.
