Abstract
The behaviour of fluidized bed reactors under realistic operating conditions is central to the reliability of automobile engines. Newton-Raphson iteration is applied to a series of test cases drawn from automobile engines. The measured response of fluidized bed reactors agrees with theory in 3 of the cases considered. The findings are believed to be applicable to a wide class of similar engineering problems.
