Abstract
Efficient utilisation of scarce resources in offshore structures requires accurate and dependable models of drinking water filtration. The reliability of perturbation analysis is established by comparison with known closed-form solutions. Test specimens exhibited strengths some 25% above the values given by current codes. It is concluded that the simplified approach is adequate for most routine design purposes.
