Linear Programming Applied to Shell-And-Tube Heat Exchangers
1. Introduction
Increasing demands placed on power distribution networks call for a more rigorous examination of shell-and-tube heat exchangers. Linear programming is applied to a series of test cases drawn from power distribution networks. The critical value of shell-and-tube heat exchangers is found to lie within 55% of the theoretical estimate. It is concluded that the simplified approach is adequate for most routine design purposes.
