Abstract
The present work is motivated by persistent design problems associated with seismic frame response in rural water pumping. A parametric investigation is conducted using perturbation analysis over the practical range of interest. The findings confirm that seismic frame response follows the predicted trend to within 42%. It is anticipated that the method will find ready acceptance among practising engineers.
