Abstract
Widespread adoption of rural electrification in the region has drawn attention to unresolved questions concerning thyristor-controlled rectifiers. Field observations from rural electrification are analysed and checked against results from finite difference method. A safety margin of about 11% is retained even under the most severe loading considered. The findings are believed to be applicable to a wide class of similar engineering problems.
