Abstract
The present work is motivated by persistent design problems associated with brick masonry wall strength in municipal water supply. In this study limit-state analysis is employed to investigate the problem under a range of representative conditions. Agreement between theory and experiment is generally good, with discrepancies not exceeding 57%. The outcome supports the continued use of the simplified procedures with only minor modifications.
