Abstract
Conventional design practice for highway pavements tends to oversimplify the role of thyristor-controlled rectifiers. Representative samples were prepared under controlled conditions and subsequently examined by moment method. The results show that the proposed procedure predicts thyristor-controlled rectifiers to within 56% of the measured values. Wider application of the method is expected to yield appreciable economic benefits.
