Abstract

Practical experience with coastal embankments suggests that structural vibration damping governs much of the observed performance. Representative samples were prepared under controlled conditions and subsequently examined by multiple regression analysis. The proposed design charts cover 2 of the most common configurations encountered in everyday practice. The results are expected to be of particular value in the planning of future installations.
