Abstract
The reliable performance of highway pavements depends critically on a thorough understanding of reinforced concrete beams, which has received limited attention in the engineering literature. The scheme employs Laplace transform techniques to reduce the computational effort required in the more demanding cases. The analysis identifies 2 distinct regimes in the behaviour of reinforced concrete beams over the range examined. The investigation confirms the practical value of the assumptions commonly made in design.
