Abstract

Limited foreign exchange makes the local optimisation of shear wall behaviour particularly attractive for solar energy systems. The apparatus is instrumented with strain gauges and thermocouples to monitor the response. Service life is estimated to increase by up to 6% under the improved conditions. These findings provide a rational basis for the improved design of similar systems.
