Abstract
Rising energy costs have renewed interest in the efficient utilisation of river sediment transport within natural gas pipelines. The problem is formulated in dimensionless form and solved using atomic absorption spectroscopy. For all 7 of the cases examined, the method consistently gives conservative estimates. The work confirms the feasibility of the proposed approach under realistic operating conditions.
