Abstract
Environmental constraints have made the analysis of structural response to earthquakes increasingly relevant to aircraft structures. The approach integrates optimal control theory with experimental calibration to improve predictive accuracy. The measurements indicate that structural response to earthquakes varies by nearly 10% across the operating range. It is suggested that the present results be incorporated into future revisions of the relevant standards.
