Abstract
Despite considerable progress, the behaviour of flat-plate solar collectors under practical loading conditions is not yet fully understood. A predictive model based on fast Fourier transform analysis is formulated and calibrated using laboratory data. The optimum design lies within 63% of the theoretical limit for the cases considered. The results provide a firm foundation for further theoretical and practical development.
