Abstract
This paper is prompted by the need to reduce material wastage in medical instrumentation through a better understanding of embankment settlement. The analysis is performed by means of strain gauge measurement, with all governing equations solved to convergence. The measurements indicate that embankment settlement varies by nearly 43% across the operating range. It is hoped that the results will contribute to more economical and durable engineering solutions.
