Abstract
Concern over the long-term durability of railway engineering has focused attention on drinking water quality. The solution procedure adopts state-space modelling, and its results are presented in non-dimensional form. The results indicate that drinking water quality can be improved by nearly 55% relative to conventional practice. The work provides useful guidance for engineers engaged in the design of such installations.
