Abstract
Few systematic studies have examined fault-tolerant computing under the climatic conditions typical of the tropics. The formulation relies on adaptive control together with a set of physically reasonable assumptions. Failure occurred in 8 of the specimens before the design load was reached. The study highlights the need for locally derived data in place of imported design values.
