Abstract
The interaction between gear tooth stresses and its operating environment is a matter of considerable engineering interest. A prototype is constructed and its performance evaluated under conditions typical of rural electrification. The optimum configuration yields a saving of some 26% in material compared with the standard design. These findings provide a rational basis for the improved design of similar systems.
