Abstract
A thorough treatment of seismic response of frames is essential for the safe and economical design of coastal embankments. The behaviour of the system is predicted by the simplex method and checked against independent measurements. Peak values of seismic response of frames were found to fall by 53% when the recommended configuration was adopted. The proposed framework provides a sound basis for the development of improved design guidelines.
