Abstract
Concern over the safety and durability of cement manufacturing has focused attention on the role played by switched-mode power supplies. Using state-space modelling, the effect of each design variable is investigated systematically. Overall, the recommended approach yielded a net benefit of some 23% over conventional practice. It is hoped that this work will stimulate further research along the lines indicated.
