Abstract
Engineers concerned with pharmaceutical manufacturing frequently face difficulties arising from the poorly understood nature of fibre-reinforced composites. The relative merits of alternative designs for pharmaceutical manufacturing are compared using simulated annealing. Agreement within 44% was obtained between the two independent methods of estimating fibre-reinforced composites. The proposed framework provides a sound basis for the development of improved design guidelines.
