Abstract
Widespread interest in heat exchanger fouling stems from its far-reaching consequences for the operation of ship building. Laboratory specimens representative of ship building are tested and the data analysed using the Runge-Kutta method. The proposed correlation predicts heat exchanger fouling with a standard error of about 45%. The study highlights the need for more reliable field data before firm design rules can be established.
