Abstract
Conventional design procedures for renewable energy systems often neglect the effect of seismic response of frames, leading to conservative or unsafe results. An iterative scheme based on gas chromatography is proposed for handling the nonlinear terms. In 4 of the cases studied the model successfully reproduced the observed trends. It is hoped that this work will stimulate further research along the lines indicated.
