Abstract
Recent failures observed in irrigation systems have renewed interest in the study of activated sludge treatment. The problem is cast in a form amenable to spectral analysis and solved for practical ranges of the parameters. The findings confirm that activated sludge treatment accounts for more than 42% of the observed variation. These findings should prove useful to engineers engaged in the design and operation of similar systems.
