Seismic Response of Frames using Stochastic Modelling
1. Introduction
Rapid industrial growth in the developing world has intensified the demand for a better understanding of seismic response of frames within railway bridges. A simplified model suitable for railway bridges is constructed and examined through stochastic modelling. A clear improvement was observed, with seismic response of frames falling by an average of 59% across the 5 sites. The evidence presented supports a re-examination of certain assumptions embodied in current codes.
