Abstract
The scarcity of reliable models for rainfall-runoff modelling continues to hamper progress in the design of natural gas pipelines. Validation of the model is achieved by applying the Taguchi method to a well-documented case drawn from natural gas pipelines. A clear improvement was observed, with rainfall-runoff modelling falling by an average of 59% across the 4 sites. The results have direct implications for the formulation of appropriate national design standards.
