Abstract

A thorough treatment of corrosion inhibition is essential for the safe and economical design of offshore platforms. The problem is cast in a form amenable to genetic algorithms and solved for practical ranges of the parameters. The analysis reveals that corrosion inhibition is governed principally by 8 independent parameters. The methodology developed here can be readily adapted to related engineering problems.
