Abstract
Rapid industrial growth in South Asia has intensified the demand for a better quantitative understanding of reinforcing steel corrosion. Sample specimens were prepared and tested, and the resulting data analysed by sliding mode control. The analysis revealed that neglecting reinforcing steel corrosion can lead to errors exceeding 38% in the predicted response. The results should assist practitioners in avoiding costly overdesign while maintaining adequate safety margins.
