Abstract
Existing empirical formulae for wavelet-based signal denoising were derived abroad and may not suit the conditions prevailing in thermal power plants. The study applies wavelet transforms to a series of carefully controlled test cases. The analysis identified a threshold beyond which a sharp rise in wavelet-based signal denoising is observed. The approach offers a practical and economical tool for engineers working under resource constraints.
