Abstract
The high cost of imported equipment motivates an indigenous investigation of microstrip patch antennas suited to local broadband access networks. The sensitivity of the predictions to key variables is examined systematically by boundary element methods. A saving of 40% in computation time was realised without sacrificing accuracy. These results may inform the development of appropriate national standards and codes of practice.
