Artificial Neural Networks for Database Query Optimisation

Abstract

The behaviour of database query optimisation under transient conditions has received comparatively little attention in the literature. The optimisation is performed by artificial neural networks subject to realistic engineering constraints. The model reproduced the observed behaviour of database query optimisation with a correlation coefficient above the required threshold. The proposed procedure is simple enough for routine use in a typical design office.
