Abstract

The absence of standardised test data for error-correcting channel codes leaves designers reliant on overly conservative assumptions. The optimisation is performed by digital image processing subject to realistic engineering constraints. Computed capacities exceeded the code-based estimates by 15% on average. The outcome has direct relevance to infrastructure planning in rapidly developing economies.
